Basketball Centers

Monday, April 1, 2019
There seems to be a running theme on here lately...basketball!
It is that time of year where the teams have been knocked out and there are only a couple games before the big championship game!

Whether you are a basketball fan or not, these centers will be a great addition to your math centers.
The first one is a number matching center.

Your kiddos match the number word with the number.  I added pom poms to practice one to one correspondence too!

The next one I used number cards.  Your kiddos pick two cards and add them together.  They can use the "basketballs" to help them solve.  Add a dry erase board or recording sheet to record their equations and answers.

I also included number cards with matching number of basketballs.  This is a great way for your kiddos to practice adding on.  Your kiddos pick a basketball number card and a plain number card then add them together.

Finally, I have a fun add the room.  You can put this in a center or hang them around the room.  Your kiddos solve the addition problems.

Five for Friday...Saturday Edition

Saturday, March 29, 2014
We are officially on Spring Break!!  I am looking forward to a much needed break!  I am actually teaching next week!  Our school is offering spring break school (like summer school)!  Luckily it will only be half days and Friday we go on a field trip!  My thought was that I am not going anywhere so I might as well do it! :)
Check out our week!
1.  The boys in my class are OBSESSED with basketball, so I have been turning any activity I can into a basketball theme!  Here each kiddo picked a word card and counted the syllables and "dunked" them into the correct bag.
If you are interested in this activity, click here!
2.   Another fun activity came from my Math Madness pack!  I hid the basketballs around the room and my kiddos got their basketball hoop and had to find the matching ball!
3.  I found this fun graphing freebie on TpT!  Click here to grab it! :)

4.   I blogged about my Word Work: CVC pack here, but I wanted to show you what my cuties did with this center this week.  The turned the game into a "Go Fish" game and made built their puzzles that way.  Of course some of my others, decided they were Pokemon cards and were "battling" each other too...haha
5.  Along with TONS of word work centers, this pack includes some great printables too!  This week I used a few of these sheets for morning work.

Monday Math Centers

Monday, March 11, 2013
Before I talk about our newest math centers I NEED to tell you about our Leprechaun disaster fun!  Last year I had a Leprechaun causing trouble in my room, making messes, leaving green "footprints" everywhere!  My kids last year LOVED it!  My kids this year...SCARED!  Some wouldn't even sit in their carpet spots because it was too close to the Leprechaun's mess!  I had a note from the Leprechaun telling about how he had come to our room, made some messes, and lost his shoe!  I had to read it 3 times just to ensure my kiddos he has left and moved to a different classroom!  By the end of the day they had at least warmed up to the idea and anything they found that was green were convinced it was left by him.  I'll give it a try tomorrow.  I mean they are still excited about him, but just got a little freaked out about a little guy dressed in green roaming around our classroom.

Alright onto my math centers!  We have a random 20 minute time period between our special and lunch every day!  We always have something to do, but I wanted more!  So I decided to do Math Centers!  We do at least 45 minutes of math a day, but we do more literacy so I wanted math to catch up a little. I have 5 centers and each day my kiddos do one!  PERFECT! I created a Math Madness pack a few weeks ago, so we geared up for a little March Madness with these fun centers!  Check them out!

 Number and number word match!
Roll and color, my kiddos are obsessed!
 Pick two cards and add!
Add and record your answer.  This on can also be done like Write the Room.
Basketball ten frames!
