Ten Things I Want To Do This SUMMER!

I have been MIA for way too long!  I am sorry!  I had a student teacher, a billion tests, and a PDP to complete.  By the time I got home I couldn't think about school!
BUT I am back and thinking about summer!  It is only 7 days away!

I am linking up with Deanna Jump for her fun Summer Linky!  Some of these things I WILL be doing and some I WANT to do! :)

1.  I will be spending a fun girl's weekend up north with my friend IRENE!

Last summer our teamwork paid off and we caught this fish!  I really only got it in the net.

2. WEDDINGS!  We have about 10 weddings from now until the beginning of fall!  

3.  READ, READ, READ!!  I have read more than I usually do lately, but this summer I want to read tons!  Any book suggestions!?

4. Enjoy some sun!  This winter was LONG and COLD!  Our current temps are in the 80's and I am LOVING it!

5.  Get in some good workouts!  I have been working out like a crazy woman lately and I can't wait to wake up (at a normal time) and enjoy a nice workout before the day even starts!

6. Spend time with family and friends!  Two of my friends are going to be in WI all summer!  Can't wait after they have been in far away states (AZ and CO) for WAY too long! :)  

7. Go camping!  Not planned, but the hubby just bought a new tent and I think I could "rough it" for one night! :)

8.  Enjoy the bike and running trails by our house!

9.  Do LOTS of grilling!  Last weekend I think half of my meals were made on the grill...LOVE summer!

10. Relax and try not to think about school...well until the end of July ;)

Five for Friday

Our Random Acts of Kindness this week!  We made cards and handed out candy canes to teachers.  We also brought our janitors some yummy treats for all their hard work during our crazy snowy weather!

3. 

We made these mini posters at the beginning of our shapes unit.  This week we matched 3D faces to the posters.  Each kiddo got a card with a shape, they had to find that shape, and match it to the correct poster.

4. 

Each kiddo got a tack and a paper.  I called out a shape and they poked that shape.  Obviously, we have used tacks before and went through LOTS of expectations like don't poke friends :)

5. 

My school got a grant and every 1st and 2nd grade class got to spend $7,000 on their classroom...yes $7,000!  Basically, if I left my classroom it will have EVERYTHING you need in it for the next teacher.   So...if I leave my classroom I have to say goodbye to all my goodies.  But I don't plan on leaving....ever haha!  

I spent lots at Really Good Stuff.  This is one of the things I got.  A "Read It, Build It, Write It" activity.  We did these today and my kids LOVED it!

Christmas Questionnaire Linky

Hot Chocolate or Eggnog? 

Hot chocolate!!  I have never had eggnog, but the name makes me think I am drinking raw eggs.  No thanks! 

Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them underneath the tree? 

Always wrapped!!  Isn't the whole excitement 

Colored lights or white? 

Colored lights!  I think white lights are too formal...does that make sense? 

When do you decorate? 

As soon as as possible!  Usually that happens after Thanksgiving!

Real or Fake Tree? 

Real!  Last year we went to two tree farms before we found our "perfect" tree.  :)  For the record, the first tree farm didn't have any tress over 4 feet tall...

What Tops Your Tree?

Favorite Christmas Memories or Traditions?

Cinnamon rolls!  Seriously, EVERY Christmas morning my mom makes cinnamon rolls and we listen to Christmas music as we open presents!

Do prefer giving or receiving? 

Giving!  I love shopping and finding those "perfect" gifts! 

What is your favorite Christmas song? 

All I Want for Christmas is You by Mariah Carey!

Candy Canes. Yuck or Yum? 

Hmm...Yum.  I don hate them.

Favorite Christmas Movie? 

ELF!  So funny!

Do you shop online or at stores?

Both! I think it depends on what it is I need.  I am a Black Friday shopper not a Cyber Monday shopper ;)

Take Me Back Tuesday

Alright, back to my little turkeys!  Thanksgiving is approaching fast!  Today we were in a turkey mood and made the CUTEST turkey headbands!  The kiddos were loving this project.  I got so many "I love this project" and "Do I look like a chicken?"...we were getting confused but we got it all figured out!  We took colored paper and the kiddos traced their turkey feathers onto it!

Next, everyone was given a sentence strip that they could decorate!  Once everyone had their strip my kiddos WANTED to write a sentence!!  YES!!  Of course I said YES!  I was going to have them write sentences after about their turkey but if they want to write on their strip...who's stopping them!?  We decided on a sentence and they all wrote, "I see a turkey."

 I stapled and they glued on their turkey feathers and cute little turkey heads!  Everyone was so proud of their creations!  I have to admit they were so adorable and easy to make! :)

A perfect project to go along with a perfect Thanksgiving Pack!

Back to School Sale Linky!

Before I talk about my fun linky party I wanted to announce...I HAVE A CLASSROOM!  Thursday I had one interview for a second grade job and when I walked out of that I had a call for another interview for a 1/2 split class!  15 minutes after I left my interview the principal for the 1/2 split class called and offered me the job!  It is not kindergarten, but like one of my FB followers said, "...change is the best professional development." TRUE THAT!  I have already been in my room and EVERY teacher has said my room is the biggest and best room at the school...what!?  It was meant to be! :) Pictures to come!  Here is a little sneak peak:

This is from the front of the room to the back.  Right behind where I was standing is a GIANT walk in supply closet!  It is huge!  I actually asked a teacher who showed me my room if it was all mine?!  The hubby can finally park in the garage again ;)

Let's Talk About Me!

I am linking up with Blog Hoppin' for their Teacher Week '13!  Today is:

1.  The hubby and I went to high school together and never talked until after we graduated!  We went our separate ways for school and randomly reconnected right after graduated college!  What is with graduating!?  

HIGH SCHOOL!  

We just celebrated our one year anniversary!

2.  We just celebrated our one year anniversary in Puerto Vallarata!  

3.  We live in MN but both grew up in WI!  And we LOVE the Packers!

4.  I did gymnastics for most of my childhood until I graduated high school!

5. My favorite movie is Legally Blonde!  But the only movies I really watch now are lifetime movies.  The last time I saw a movie in the theater was The Lorax with my kinders 2 years ago!

6.  I LOVE kindergarten and have taught it for 3 years! 

7.  I don't know where I am teaching next year!  Did your mouth just drop open?  Yep!  Still waiting to see where I will be...  However, my teaching partner Irene is in the same boat-we don't like it!  Haha!

8.  I love reality TV!  I am obsessed with Big Brother right now! 

9.  My favorite things are: summer, pink, pizza, tacos, the beach, diet coke

10.  My not so favorite things: snow in April, ranch dressing, mayo, mice

Throwback Thursday!

It is HOT!  I LOVE it!!  I am linking up with Cara for Throwback Thursday!  I picked my throwback post because it was a FUN family project that the kiddos absolutely LOVED!  I totally love at the end of this throwback post where it says "Stay Warm"...oh we are! :)

Today my kiddos' unit projects were due for our animal unit in Language Arts!  At the beginning, of every unit we have a project due at the end of our unit!  It is a great way for the parents to get involve and help their little ones with a fun project!  This unit each kiddo had to make a diorama of a zoo animal!  The first thing we did was set them all out and took a walk through our "zoo"!  My kinders just LOVED this!  It let them see what everyone did and let the kids show off their work!  After our trip to the zoo, each kiddo got to present their diorama!  They LOVE presenting their work, so it was a fun part of our day! :) Check out  a few of the cute projects!  They did great!

The light blue border in this diorama is supposed to represent the waves!  So clever!:)
