Target Alphabet Letter Writing

Monday, January 14, 2019
I picked up these cute felt letters from the Target Dollar Spot a couple weeks ago!

I thought they would be perfect for a center or group activity!
I created a couple worksheets that you can use in your classroom with these letters or any letters you may have.

The first one your kiddos will pick a letter and write about the picture that matches the letter.  They can write the word, the sentence on the piece, or create their own.

The second worksheet has your kiddos copying the sentence on the pieces by filling in the missing words.

Writing Center

Monday, August 27, 2018
If you're like me you have a writing center or writing time during your school day!  If you don't, you should start!

I want to share with you an EASY prep writing center!  There is only one thing that you would have to cut before, but other than that just click PRINT and you have yourself a fun writing center for your kiddos!
One of the activities in this pack is sentence writing, I mean this is a writing pack!  I have included three different levels for your kiddos. This makes it easy to differentiate.

I have included a journal, also.  You can use the cover and create a journal for each kiddo or just use the journal paper for your center.  There are two types of journal paper.  One with three lines to write and one with more lines.  Both have a blank space for a picture.
I said there is only one thing that would need to be prepped and these cards are the only thing.  Your kiddos can choose a card then trace the word they choose.

Another way to use these cards is to pick a card and write about your the word you picked.  Your kiddos can write one sentence or write a whole story using the journal paper included.

These sentence builders could even work in a word work center!

Finally, I have added some list making pages, too!  Your kiddos can make their lists and use them to write in their journals or use their lists when they are stuck on what to write about.
Grab this writing center HERE!

Brown Bear, Brown Bear

Monday, September 22, 2014
This week we are doing Brown Bear!  I wanted to share some of my Daily 5 centers that we are doing this week (and probably next because I forget to switch them out...)!
Find it here!
All of these centers are working with the color words!  I planned on putting these color word mats in one of the centers and then realized we don't know how to spell those color words just yet.  So I threw in the color word circles which I thought might be tricky but my kiddos rocked it!

Find it here!
I made sure to use the colored letters, so it would be a little easier to build their words.
Find it here!
These word cards can be used for ordering the events in the book, but I added some magnetic letters and now we build each one!
Find it here!
Same cards, but these are tracers!  I made enough sets and put it in my Writing center!
All of these centers can be found in my Brown Bear Activity Pack!

I want to give one of these packs away!
To win:
1. Pin any of the pictures in the post.
2.  Comment with your pin and your email! :)
3.  I'll pick a winner tomorrow night!
Congrats to Diane, Kelly, Lorena, and Lori! :)

Word Work: CVC Actvities

Wednesday, March 19, 2014
I am a obsessed with Daily 5 and do it EVERY day!  We only have time for 4 centers a day, but if my kiddos or I had a choice we would do 5! :)  If you are not familiar with Daily 5, it is the easiest and best thing you can do during guided reading.  There is minimal prepping and a great classroom management piece while you meet with your kiddos.
One center that needs a little prepping is Word Work.  I want engaging centers, but ones that can be done independently by most.  I tried adding their spelling words in there and that was "boring" after awhile, so I created my first Word Work pack!  Jammed pack with centers that can be used during Daily 5 or any literacy centers you might have!

**Keep reading for a chance to WIN this pack!**

There are so many different activities in this pack, your kiddos will definitely strengthen those short vowel sounds!  Here are two of the centers in this pack!  CVC puzzles!

These cards come in 3 different levels!  One set is just the picture, one has the full word, and one has a missing vowel.  Your kiddos will write each word in the correct vowel box.

**Want to win one!?**
1.  Pin any picture from this post
2.  Comment with the pin and your email
**I will pick a winner tomorrow**

Congrats Beki! :)

Clip It-Word Work

Thursday, January 16, 2014
For some reason, I have a TON of paint stir sticks.  Trust me I am not a professional painter on the side.  The hubby can back me up on that one.  He insisted on painting all the rooms in our house after he saw me paint our guest bedroom...
I decided to put those paint sticks to use in the classroom.
Time saver-color code the paint sticks and letters!  Seriously, it is so easy to keep organized and the kids know if they have an extra letter.
We practice our spelling words and sight word with them.

Word Work and Blogiversary Coming Soon!

Saturday, October 19, 2013

I have been revamping my Word Work center like every other week.  I saw these fun sight word dice from Dollar Tree on Granny Goes to School's blog.
Of course, I went out and got them right away.
I added some scrabble tiles and my kiddos rolled, recorded, and built each word.  It was fun, but some of my kids it was too easy or too hard.  That is when I decided to have my kiddos take their word sorts to the Word Work center...duh, why not?
At our school, we use the Words Their Way program!  I am so new to it, but I am LOVING it!  Everyone has words at their level and they do not get a list of words sent home every week to memorize.  They focus on  word pattern throughout the week and are only tested on that at the end of  the week.  BRILLIANT!
Now, my kiddos take their word sorts to the Word Work and spell the words with the Scrabble tiles.
Last week we had a short week, but in one of our mini lesson we worked with Wiki Stix.  Guess what we added to our Word Work center then...?
Eventually, I want to have baskets with these supplies in them, so when my kiddos go to the center they grab a basket with all these materials and can work with their words.
What do you do for your Word Work center?!

My blogiversary is coming up!  If you are interested in donating a product click here! ( I hope that worked)  I can't believe it has almost been a year since I started this blogging journey!!

Marvelous Monday!

Today starts our short 2 day week!  Can't wait to have a few days off with family and friends in WI!
We were extra busy in room 32 today!  I saw the cutest worksheet in my copy room at school about sorting words and letters, but did not copy it because I have felt lately my kids are on worksheet overload!  So I did the next best thing, I created the worksheet in real life and had my kinders sort words and letters on our white board!  This worked out fabulous because they could see the differences in them both and we could discuss what makes a word a word!  Of course we have those tricky letters that are words AND a letter but my kiddos picked up the concept fast!

I was in WI this past weekend for my friend's bridal shower, so of course I found myself at Hobby Lobby!  This store is amazing and I got the cutest little letter charms for my Word Work center!  My kiddos LOVE LOVE Daily 5 (like scream and cheer every time I announce we are doing Daily 5, kind of love) and I am always looking to add more activities for them!  I paired this activity with one of my activities from my Let it Snow! pack.  I took the sight word match game cards and added it with the letter charms and we had a fabulous Word Work center!  The students picked a card and made that word on the pipe cleaner! :)

Here is where you can find the word cards!
