Run, Turkey, Run

Monday, November 24, 2014

I have been so MIA on here lately!  I have been posting on Insta, but not on here.  That is changing now! :)
Our principal emailed us in the morning telling us to have fun these two days and I changed up my plans a little- You have to listen to the principal ;)
Today, we did everything we could turkey or as some of my kiddos called it chicken.
We read this book:

So adorable!
After we read this book, we created our own turkeys using paper plates and colored tissue paper!
Save yourself some time and use the die cutter!  These will be the heads.

I cut a paper plate in half and my kiddos glued colored tissue paper onto the plate.  The feathers :)  To make it a little more educational, I had my kiddos count out 20 pieces of tissue paper to glue to their plate.

Once they were done gluing the colored tissue paper, they glued the head right on top.

They turned out so cute, but we are NOT done!
I also threw in some writing and had my kiddos write about where their turkey would hide so they wouldn't be eaten!
The prompt is traceable and then my kinders wrote in where the turkey would hide!

We had a lot of them hide at the zoo.  I thought this picture was just so cute! :)

Enjoy your short week and if you are off...I'm jealous, but ENJOY!

Turkey Feathers

Tuesday, November 11, 2014
My turkey activities might need to turn into snow activities after our first snow!  I am not ready for winter!
Each kiddo got a body and strips of paper, the "feathers".  Strips are a lot easier to prep!
They glued their feathers on, counted and wrote the numbers on each feather!  I added a strip that my kiddos traced and wrote their number in the blank.
How adorable is that face!?

Thankful Turkeys

Sunday, November 24, 2013
Two more days this week until a long weekend of eating, relaxing, and lots of SHOPPING!
Friday, we worked on our thankful turkeys!
I printed all the feathers on colored paper.  I "thought" I made a ton, but everyone wanted to put one friend's name on each feather, so we had to just write "friends".

I used the app InstaCollage to do my pictures!  Easy and fun! :)  I totally recommend it if you take pics on your iPhone when you are at school!

Take Me Back Tuesday

Tuesday, November 19, 2013

I'm linking up with Hope from 2nd Grade Shenanigans for her Take Me Back Tuesday.  Bringing back the oldies!
Check out this post from November 13th, 2012

Alright, back to my little turkeys!  Thanksgiving is approaching fast!  Today we were in a turkey mood and made the CUTEST turkey headbands!  The kiddos were loving this project.  I got so many "I love this project" and "Do I look like a chicken?"...we were getting confused but we got it all figured out!  We took colored paper and the kiddos traced their turkey feathers onto it!

Next, everyone was given a sentence strip that they could decorate!  Once everyone had their strip my kiddos WANTED to write a sentence!!  YES!!  Of course I said YES!  I was going to have them write sentences after about their turkey but if they want to write on their strip...who's stopping them!?  We decided on a sentence and they all wrote, "I see a turkey."

I stapled and they glued on their turkey feathers and cute little turkey heads!  Everyone was so proud of their creations!  I have to admit they were so adorable and easy to make! :)

A perfect project to go along with a perfect Thanksgiving Pack!

Beep, Beep, Bus Project and Rainbow Turkeys

Wednesday, November 7, 2012

Check out the cute projects we did today!  Our theme with our Language Arts curriculum is Transportation for this unit!  We are having a fun time learning about different types of transportation and whether they work on the land, air, or water.  I have been leveling my kiddos for reading groups and I noticed that some did not know the word 'my', so I created this cute bus project using a poem that they write the word 'my' into!  They turned out adorable!
We have been also working on ordinal numbers and I made the perfect little book for my kinders.  It is called "Rainbow Turkeys"!  It is the perfect book for when you are teaching ordinals!  Each page has an ordinal number and a color word!  Check out my kiddos working on it!

Grab your books here!!

Check out my Give Thanks: Thanksgiving Mini Pack to add to this awesome book pack!!
