Simple Center-CVC

Saturday, November 24, 2018
Do you ever need just ONE more center for your literacy block, but don't want to buy a WHOLE pack of them?  Well, I felt the same way, so I created a new line of products that is just that-one more!  They are one center focusing on one skill!

They include a center activity, recording sheet, and a practice worksheet that you can use however you would like.  You can add that sheet as extra practice after your kiddos finish a center or you could use it for morning work or homework!

I have a bunch of centers already made for the past couple holidays (Halloween/fall and Thanksgiving)!

I wanted to share my new Christmas center with you!  This one focuses on CVC words.  Your kiddos will record the CVC word on their recording sheet.

In this pack I have included THREE different recording sheets.  The recording sheets included are write the full word, write the missing vowel, and trace each word.

I added the CVC picture cards and word cards.  I would add the word cards to the center and have your kiddos match the word to the picture then record.

Rhyme to Read

Wednesday, May 14, 2014
I got the opportunity to review an AMAZING app!  It is called Rhyme to Read and was created by teachers!  You know it is good if teachers created it!

Fellow teachers know our immediate needs and reading is such a high priority in any grade especially in the beginning when those little ones are first learning how to decode.
In this app there are 20 books that students can click on from the home screen.  They are numbered and color coded by vowels!  Perfect if you are focusing on a certain vowel or word family for a given week!
In the book, the left side has a few words that will  be sounded out for you when you tap it and the right side has the story that can be read to you if you tap on the words.  Each word family ending is color coded based on the vowel book color.  GENIUS!
On the top of the pages are sight words that you will find in the story on that specific page.
So think about it-each word family word can be found in the various books PLUS the sight words are posted on each page if they are found in the passage on that page.  That means all those little kiddos have an amazing tool to teach them how to READ in a FUN way!
I LOVE that the story #1 has a few words on each page and by book #20 you have a more complex story that includes more of the word family endings.
This app is $9.99 and worth every penny!  You are getting 20 books!  The school year is winding down, but would still be perfect for those kiddos who need extra practice!

Vowel Hunt

Wednesday, October 23, 2013
We do literacy in the afternoon and to get my kiddos moving around I try to do more "games" for my mini lessons.
Today, we went on a vowel hunt!  I hung up CVC pictures around the room and had my kiddos walk around to record each word.

The recording sheet was very basic, so I could use it to fit more needs of students.

I had most kiddos writing the words out in the correct section.  For the others, I had them just write the letter that was on the card in the correct section.  This mostly was a time saver and a confidence booster because it takes them awhile to figure out those sounds.
If you want to grab a copy, click here!  It is very basic, so hopefully you can use it to meet your needs!
