Shapes

Thursday, October 16, 2014
My long weekend has officially started!  We had a 2 day week, with conferences, and a work day thrown in there!  Whoo whoo!
We are still learning all we can about shapes!  Our shape unit is not amazing, so we have to make it more fun!
I made these little shape posters (aka shape unit in the works)!

I put the shapes in the middle of our circle and everyone got  a chance to throw their bean bag on a shape.  Whatever the bean bag landed on or which ever one they were closest to they would identify.

One of the other kinder teachers and I always try to come up with a fun art project every week.  And when we say come up with it usually is right as our prep is ending...

Since we are learning about shapes we decided to make a "Shape Pumpkin Patch".  I drew some shapes and wrote out a sentence that had our kiddos counting the pumpkins.
Quick, easy, and super cute! :)

Counting Leaves~Math Activity FREEBIE

Saturday, September 27, 2014
Fall is here which means cooler temps and changing leaves!  However, we are in some weird heat wave so our "cooler weather" right now is actually 85 degrees...
I bought some foam leaf stickers from the Dollar Tree last year and did a fun word problem activity.  Now that I am back in kinder I was on a hunt for those leaves again and SURPRISE they were back at the Dollar Tree!
Here is what we did with them!  Each kiddo got their own tree to color.
Once they had their tree all colored I gave them a random amount of leaves.
They stuck the leaves wherever they wanted on or around their tree.
When they were done they traced the bottom sentence and filled in the blank with the number of leaves they were given.
They LOVED this project and it was great counting practice!  If you want a copy of this page click HERE!

Doubles Scoop of Ice Cream

Sunday, January 12, 2014
My cuties were working on their doubles on Friday and I told them they were going to make ice cream cones!  At first they thought we were having real ice cream...  I cleared that up and we created our ice cream cones!
We measured our ice cream cone and made half circles for our scoops.
I handed out a problem to each kiddo.  They put that number on each scoop of ice cream and glued the problem on the cone.
We will hang these up in the room to help us remember those pesky doubles!
