Feet, Feet, Feet

Thursday, February 28, 2013
Today's book was The Foot Book!  We have been working hard on our skip counting so today we counted our toes!  Each kiddo got a foot with a number!  I had to explain the number did not mean anything, so if they only got 10 and their friend got 100 it didn't mean their friend got 100 things and they got only 10!  Seriously, some days...  After they got their number they colored their foot "fun colors"!  We get excited at those two little words.

After they were all cut out, we put them in order.  Since I have more than 10 kids we had to do two sets!  Let me tell you though-the kiddos who only got to do ONE were devastated.  However, we all got over it.

We continued on with our day and before we did Daily 5 we did a little review and each kiddo did a Count by 10's worksheet where they got to write the numbers and of course color using "fun colors"!

One Fish, Two Fish

Wednesday, February 27, 2013
Today's book was One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish and we used the fabulous Shannon Martin's activity sheets! If you do not know about her blog Kindergarten Hoppenings, where have you been!?  Just kidding...kind of!  Her blog has TONS of freebies and the products in her TpT store are just as fabulous!  These worksheets can be found here!

Before we graphed these Goldfish crackers, I asked my kiddos what do you think we could use to graph these colored fish?  They came up with so many creative answers-one even said you could draw the fish on the chalkboard and we could graph those! SO if you find yourself without Goldfish crackers just draw them! Easy!  They loved this and of course it was more exciting because they could eat it when they were done!

And the Winners are...

The Leebs beat me to it!  Congrats winners!!  Check your emails for more info!! :)
I am going to break all rules and do a double post day BUT now I am off to a staff meeting, so check back later!  LOVE early release days but wish I was leaving with the kiddos sometimes!! :)

Green Egg Adding

Tuesday, February 26, 2013
I had all intentions of doing my Seuss stuff on Friday, but then I kept finding things and realized Friday was not enough!  SO...I am picking a book a day and doing matching activities!  Today's book was Green Eggs and Ham!  We colored, cut, added, and glued some green eggs which went perfectly with our math unit!  One of my co-teachers did it last year and when I saw it last week during planning I was thinking PERFECT!!  Check it out!

2.  We had a short week and we were BUSY!  We had Junior Achievment come on Wednesday!  We did a lot of fun activities learning about money and saving.

3.  We started learning about plants!  I introduced our unit by having my kiddos tell me what a plant needs to grow and I had these things made out of paper for my kiddos to see.  We also labeled the different parts after we learned about what plants need to grow.

4.  We are started our addition unit in math this week!  We had fun playing addition games using number cards and counters to solve our problems.  We also used these cute math sign cubes I got from Highlights to put in the middle of our numbers.

5.  Friday we had our Black History Month Celebration at school.  Our school put on a play that showed different time periods for African Americans!  We were on the news for it! :)  Awesome right!?

Today we had our Junior Achievement day!  If you haven't done this at your school you should!  It was great!  A volunteer came in for the morning to read stories and do activities my kiddos.  A lot of the topics were about money!  One of the activities they got to use money stickers!  I was going crazy over them when I saw them!  I was so happy when our volunteer gave me the extras!

We had that in the morning and a rehearsal in the afternoon for our Black History Celebration on Friday!  Let's just say we only did math and Daily 5 before our day was done!  Since I don't have amazing teacher ideas today, I whipped up a freebie for you! :)  It is a St. Patty's Day themed money matching worksheet pack!  Click on the picture! :)
