Spring Break!

Monday, March 31, 2014
I wish I could say I am sipping fruity drinks on the beach, but I am actually spending my break at school!  This year our school offered a spring break school.  Today was pirate day!  I'm still trying to get my anchor tattoo off...  Luckily, our day is only 4 hours, so I have most of the afternoon to relax.  Today I "relaxed" and finished up my Print and Learn-April pack!  I finished it just in time for April AND the Spring Cleaning Sale!
P.S. Scroll down for a chance to win it too! :) Congrats Andrea!! :)
I added some Earth Day worksheets to this pack along with lots of rainy day pages.  I am wondering if I should of added some snowy day pages too.  We are getting MORE snow tonight/tomorrow!  Save me! ha!

I also included two writing prompt sheets.  Two different levels.  One with a sentence to finish and one without a sentence :)

Want to win one (do I need to even ask)?!

Congrats Andrea!! :)

Five for Friday...Saturday Edition

Saturday, March 29, 2014
We are officially on Spring Break!!  I am looking forward to a much needed break!  I am actually teaching next week!  Our school is offering spring break school (like summer school)!  Luckily it will only be half days and Friday we go on a field trip!  My thought was that I am not going anywhere so I might as well do it! :)
Check out our week!
1.  The boys in my class are OBSESSED with basketball, so I have been turning any activity I can into a basketball theme!  Here each kiddo picked a word card and counted the syllables and "dunked" them into the correct bag.
If you are interested in this activity, click here!
2.   Another fun activity came from my Math Madness pack!  I hid the basketballs around the room and my kiddos got their basketball hoop and had to find the matching ball!
3.  I found this fun graphing freebie on TpT!  Click here to grab it! :)

4.   I blogged about my Word Work: CVC pack here, but I wanted to show you what my cuties did with this center this week.  The turned the game into a "Go Fish" game and made built their puzzles that way.  Of course some of my others, decided they were Pokemon cards and were "battling" each other too...haha
5.  Along with TONS of word work centers, this pack includes some great printables too!  This week I used a few of these sheets for morning work.

Have You Heard The GREAT News!?

Thursday, March 27, 2014
Do you follow me on Facebook!?  If you don't, then you missed my big news!  I am teaching kindergarten next year!!!!  I am currently teaching a 1st/2nd split, but next year I am back to teaching those cute little kinders!
Besides my fabulous new, I wanted to share a FREEBIE with you!  March Madness is in full swing, so I wanted to throw some fun basketball activities into my room!
Today, we took Ashley Hughes' FREE basketball number cards and paired it with this worksheet!

My kiddos picked a number and wrote that number in the middle box.  Then, they wrote 10 more, 10 less, 1 more, and 1 less of that number.

Syllable Shake

Thursday, March 20, 2014
We did a fun activity with syllables today!  We are really working hard on chunking those tricky words and I thought this would be a fun way to practice it!
I have some syllable cards from Really Good Stuff that we used and the shaker I got at Target in the dollar section last year. .

We sat in a circle and passed around our bag and shaker.  Each kiddo picked a card, read it, and then shook the syllables.

We worked together and helped anyone who couldn't read their word right away.

Word Work: CVC Actvities

Wednesday, March 19, 2014
I am a obsessed with Daily 5 and do it EVERY day!  We only have time for 4 centers a day, but if my kiddos or I had a choice we would do 5! :)  If you are not familiar with Daily 5, it is the easiest and best thing you can do during guided reading.  There is minimal prepping and a great classroom management piece while you meet with your kiddos.
One center that needs a little prepping is Word Work.  I want engaging centers, but ones that can be done independently by most.  I tried adding their spelling words in there and that was "boring" after awhile, so I created my first Word Work pack!  Jammed pack with centers that can be used during Daily 5 or any literacy centers you might have!

**Keep reading for a chance to WIN this pack!**

There are so many different activities in this pack, your kiddos will definitely strengthen those short vowel sounds!  Here are two of the centers in this pack!  CVC puzzles!

These cards come in 3 different levels!  One set is just the picture, one has the full word, and one has a missing vowel.  Your kiddos will write each word in the correct vowel box.

Congrats Beki! :)

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Tuesday, March 18, 2014
Alright, maybe it is a day late, but we are still having fun with it!  I have been swamped with doing my STEP reading tests the past two weeks!  My kiddos were passing up a storm (YAY), so it literally took two weeks plus a day with a sub! We finally are getting back in our guided reading routine again.
I spiced up our first day back in reading groups with some St. Patrick's Day activities!

These are from my St. Patty's Day Fun pack!  The activities we are doing here are word family sorts and sentence scramble!

I will leave you with this...
If you follow me on Instagram, you have already seen this, but I still have to laugh when I see it!

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss! FREEBIE ALERT!

Sunday, March 2, 2014
We had lots of fun Friday doing Seuss related activities!
Before I show you what we did, look at what I found at Target in the dollar section!  My kiddos are going to go crazy over those pencils!  I am using the bag for an activity my sub will use on Wednesday!

We are going to continue this week, but check out what we did Friday!
We started with a few Cat in the Hat centers.  I had my kiddos match the number words and numbers.

During guided reading, I had my kiddos do a rhyming activity.
We ended our day by making our hats!  This little one kept going around saying "Who is the real Cat in the Hat?"
I made this quick pattern worksheet!  Grab it by clicking on the picture!

Currently March!!

Saturday, March 1, 2014
Whoo!  It is MARCH!  I am linking up with Farley for her month Currently linky!  Go check out her new blog design...ADORABLE! :)
Listening: Never watched it before, but it is kind of interesting.  I wish I could remodel old, gross houses like they do!
Loving: MARCH!  I might be biased, but March is the best month! :)  First, it is my BIRTHDAY month! Second, the weather SHOULD be getting warmer!
Thinking: Achoo!  I hope I can kick this baby cold before it turns into something more!
Wanting: This whole post is going to be about weather because it is March and the temp is currently -3 and "feels like" -20!  Yes, it is March and it feels like December.
Needing: Remember it feels like -20...
???????-I almost put those question marks in that section because I had no idea what to put there:)  Time to guess!
