Gingerbread Buttons

Friday, November 30, 2018
We started some gingerbread activities this week!  I wanted to share a fun number activity that we did!

We took these gingerbread number cards I made and used buttons to decorate our gingerbread!

We also used chocolate chips one day because in one of the stories we read, he had chocolate chips
for buttons!
Anything with food is always way more fun!

We also put the cards in number order as we were putting his buttons on!

Toddler Tuesday {Preschool Ideas} Week 8

Tuesday, November 27, 2018

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!  Mine was spent with family and lots of food!
This week I am kicking off some fun holiday activities you can do with your little one!

This week we started decorating for Christmas!  We have a fun and easy fine motor activity that we brought out!  Our felt Christmas tree!  This is great because it does not involve breakable ornaments ;).
It is really easy to make too!
Trace and cut a big tree on green felt.

Then, cut out different colored circles for the ornaments.

Finally, cut out a star for the top and a rectangle for the stump.
Your kiddos will have so much fun decorating their tree!

We put ours on the floor but it could easily be put on the wall!
We even threw in a little education with it!
We practiced sorting the ornaments by colors and by size!

This has been a huge hit the past few days!

Simple Center-CVC

Saturday, November 24, 2018
Do you ever need just ONE more center for your literacy block, but don't want to buy a WHOLE pack of them?  Well, I felt the same way, so I created a new line of products that is just that-one more!  They are one center focusing on one skill

They include a center activity, recording sheet, and a practice worksheet that you can use however you would like.  You can add that sheet as extra practice after your kiddos finish a center or you could use it for morning work or homework!

I have a bunch of centers already made for the past couple holidays (Halloween/fall and Thanksgiving)!

I wanted to share my new Christmas center with you!  This one focuses on CVC words.  Your kiddos will record the CVC word on their recording sheet.

In this pack I have included THREE different recording sheets.  The recording sheets included are write the full word, write the missing vowel, and trace each word.

I added the CVC picture cards and word cards.  I would add the word cards to the center and have your kiddos match the word to the picture then record.

Listening Center: Book App

Friday, November 23, 2018
If you are like me, you have some sort of listening center during your literacy block.  My listening centers have been computer, iPad, or an actual CD player with a book (old school).  All effective, but it would always be nice to have an app that had a variety of books for you kiddos to choose from.  The best part would be if this app was easy to use!

I have found that app and it is called FarfariaFarfaria has a HUGE library of books that can be read to your students or they can choose to read them on their own.

The app can be broken down into grade level, reading level, favorite character, or interest books.
The home icon will bring you to the grade level books.  Click on your grade level and they will filter books for that grade.

The best part is each book is leveled by reading level, so if you want your students to read or listen to books around their level you can do that!

On the home page above the grade levels there is even a handful of "favorite characters" these characters are in multiple books on the app!

Another great thing I liked was that you can favorite books and listen to those books at any time.  They are downloaded in the app and will work when you are offline (if that should ever happen)!

If this sounds like an app you would like to use, use the code HOHOHO by December 31st and receive 40% off a subscription!

My Thanksgiving Writing Activity

Thursday, November 22, 2018
Happy Thanksgiving!
I hope you had a day full of yummy food!
I am jumping on here to share a fun writing activity to do the first few days back!

I have created three different level writing sheets for your students to write about their Thanksgiving!

One sheet has the sentence starter all typed out ("On Thanksgiving I..."), one has it so your kiddos will trace it, and the final one just has the question- "What did you do on Thanksgiving" on the top!

3 FREEBIES for Fall

Sunday, November 18, 2018
I wanted to share a few fall themed freebies for you!  This will come in handy if you are teaching this week!

The first one is a simple counting activity!  Your kiddos count and record the number they get.  This pack only goes up to number 6, but it comes with two different worksheets based on the level of your kiddos.

The second one is a fall emergent reader pack that includes 2 books!  I made it easy and the book on the top is "I Like Fall" and the bottom book is "I See Fall"!  Print double sided with 2 staples and your are all set to go!

The last one is Thanksgiving themed!  It is a fun math center working on tally marks.  This can be played in centers, small, or large group!  For a large group, I would pass out a card to each student then have them match their tally to the correct number!  OR hang them around the room and have your kiddos record on their recording sheet.

Toddler Tuesday {Preschool Ideas} Week 7

Tuesday, November 13, 2018

We are almost there!  Thanksgiving is next week!

I have a fun project we did yesterday!  I got the inspiration HERE, but we changed up a few things!
We painted turkey feathers using forks!
I put out our three colors and we made fork prints all over our paper with those colors.

Then, I cut out a turkey body and drew on the eyes.  We painted an orange beak with our orange paint.

Next, we glued our bodies in the middle of our fork painting.
They turned out so cute and will be a perfect decoration for Thanksgiving dinner next week!

Thanksgiving Activities and Games for the Classroom

Thursday, November 8, 2018
I have made a list of fun activities and games that you can play in your classroom this month!

Check out what I found:

1.  Pumpkin Play Dough
This would be fun to make as a class or make and bring in.  I would use this play dough in my centers to make words, letters, and to solve math problems!

2.  Directed Turkey Drawing
I have done this with my class and it was so fun!  I had them all sit on the carpet with clipboards and we went step by step using these instructions!  This would make a cute class display!

3.  Turkey Bowling
You could have small groups each work on a "turkey pin" or you could make them yourself.  This would be a perfect game to practice subtraction!

4.  Stuff the Turkey
This one takes a little bit of prep BUT you could always just take a paper bag and glue a picture of a turkey on it ;)  To make it more educational, have students answer questions before they get to toss their "food" into the turkey.

5.  Turkey Tag
This one is a fun one to get your kiddos up and moving.  It is also great because there is a great book to read before you start your game!

There are so many fun games and activities for this time of year!
What are some of your favorites?

Toddler Tuesday {Preschool Ideas} Week 6

Tuesday, November 6, 2018

It is officially November and we are thinking all things Thanksgiving!

This week we made a Thankful Tree!
We traced our hands, then wrote the things we are thankful on them.

I made a big tree on a piece of poster board and then taped our "leaves" on our tree!
It was so fun to hear the different things we are thankful for!

Thanksgiving Writing Center

Monday, November 5, 2018

It is hard to believe that it is already November!  I have some fun Thanksgiving writing center activities you can use this month!

One activity you will find in this Thanksgiving writing center pack are sentence builder worksheets.
There are a total of 5 and each one is a simple sentence that your students will trace, write, and build!

Another activity has your kiddos making lists!  They have a question and will make a list with 5 things per list.  These lists can be used to plan for writing a longer story.

There are also Thanksgiving word cards.  These cards can be used in many different ways!
Students can pick a word and write a sentence with that word in it.  They can write a whole story around that word.  There is also a tracing sheet that students can pick a word and trace the word.
Finally, there are different blank writing pages and sentence starters.

This pack will definitely take you through the whole month of November with all the different activities, but if you are looking for more, I also have a Fall Writing Center pack!
