St. Patrick's Day Writing Sensory Bin

I'm back with a fun writing center idea for you!

I have been really into sensory bins lately, so I took the word card from my St. Patrick's Day writing pack and added them to a St. Patrick's Day themed sensory bin,

Our sensory bin also has a mix of colored beans.  I also added some green Easter grass and gold glitter paper strips.  I found both of these from Walmart in their Easter section.

You could also add a tweezers or tongs to have your kiddos grab each card using those tools.
I laminated our word tracing paper, so we can use this over and over.  Plus, it cuts down on copying!

Toddler Tuesday {Preschool Ideas} Week 9

I have a EASY idea for you this week!
I literally took a sheet of big poster board and drew a gingerbread on it (artistic skills not required)!

I then let the little one go to TOWN!  He got to paint his own GIANT gingerbread man!

Anything that is close to his size equals engagement!

After it dried I cut it out and we hung him up!

Easy? Yes!  Fun? YES!

Toddler Tuesday {Preschool Ideas} Week 8

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!  Mine was spent with family and lots of food!
This week I am kicking off some fun holiday activities you can do with your little one!

This week we started decorating for Christmas!  We have a fun and easy fine motor activity that we brought out!  Our felt Christmas tree!  This is great because it does not involve breakable ornaments ;). 
It is really easy to make too!
Trace and cut a big tree on green felt. 

Then, cut out different colored circles for the ornaments.

Finally, cut out a star for the top and a rectangle for the stump.
Your kiddos will have so much fun decorating their tree!

We put ours on the floor but it could easily be put on the wall!
We even threw in a little education with it!
We practiced sorting the ornaments by colors and by size!

This has been a huge hit the past few days!

Toddler Tuesday {Preschool Ideas} Week 5

It is Halloween week!  I hope you're week isn't too scary!
Today I have a fun project you can do in between Halloween and Thanksgiving!
How cute are these Q-tip trees!?  They are easy to make and even help work on those fine motor skills!

I used thicker paper, so the paint would not tear with all the paint in one area.  I drew a tree using a black marker.  You can draw a tree or you can print a tree out.  I have a tree HERE that you can print.

I set out colors you would see on fall trees along with a bunch of Q-tips.  Your kiddos simply dip their Q-tip into the paint and make small dots all around the tree.

Hang these trees up to make an adorable fall display in your class or in your hallway!

Five Halloween Themed Activities for the Classroom

Halloween is only a couple weeks away!  If you throw a Halloween party in your classroom, you may be looking for some fun activities to add to your day!

I found 5 fun Halloween activities that would be perfect for the classroom.  They all are educational and FUN!
1. Fine Motor Web
Put some fall or Halloween objects on a table.  Then, make a spider web out of tape.  Your kiddos will use tweezers to pick up the objects and place them in their cup!

2.  Gross Motor Web
Make a spider web on the floor using painters tape.  Then, place plastic spiders around the web.  Your kiddos will walk on the web lines collecting the spider.  Once they get through the web you can have a prize waiting for them or they can turn around and walk back to the start.

3.  Life Size Pumpkin Memory
Your kiddos will love this big game of memory!  Create pumpkins out of paper plates with different faces (2 of each face).  This could be done with the class or on your own.  Then, flip over each plate and play it like memory by trying to find the matching faces.

4.  Find the Letter-Hole Punch
This would be a great game to do if you pull small groups that day!  Simply, write the letters A-Z around a pumpkin cut out and call out letters.  Your kiddos will hole punch the letter you call.  Make it more challenging by calling out letter sounds or "what does apple start with?".

5. Pumpkin Tic Tac Toe
Create a tic tac toe board game using tape on the floor.  Then, use 2 different colored pumpkins to play tic tac toe on your floor board!

Toddler Tuesday {Preschool Activities} Week 2

I'm making an effort to post a fun preschool activity every week and we are on week 2!  I'm celebrating the small victories :)

Today, I have a fun counting, number match, and fine motor activity for you with a Halloween theme!
I made these number circles with matching number of objects. 

Your little one will take clothespins and put one clothespin over each candy corn piece. 
We counted as we put on each clothespin until we had covered up each candy corn.
These are great because it encourages counting and gives them a visual of the number, too!  Plus, they are working on their fine motor by pinching open the clothespin.

Apple Week Activities

I wanted to share some fun apple themed activities with you! 

The beginning of the year in kindergarten is BUSY!  Busy learning how school works and throwing in some academics when you can!
Sometimes learning includes strengthening motor skills.  I have a fun activity that works on just that.
Ripping paper is great practice and can strengthen their little hands.

Another thing we are working on is their name!  I created these letter apples and name plates to help with checking that their name was spelled correctly.

A couple fun math activities were sorting and making patterns with the apples.

I also had fun hiding apples around the room.  We would find them and count how many we found. 

Another idea is to hide the letters in their name and have them find the letters in their name. 

To make apple letters a little more challenging, than just spelling their names is to use it with sight words or CVC words.

Fall Trees

We finished up our science unit on trees on Friday by making some ADORABLE fall trees!  I was inspired by this pin, but was talked out of actually painting by another kindergarten teacher...haha!
I gave each kiddo a orange, brown, red, and yellow strip of paper.

There job was to rip the paper while I went around tracing their hands for their trees.

Once they were done ripping, they colored their tree.  Then, they started gluing on their "leaves"!

As they were gluing, I handed out a green strip.  They snipped one side to make grass for the bottom of their tree.

They turned out so cute!  They took some time since there were so many steps-plus the clean up, but so worth it!
