St. Patrick's Day Writing Sensory Bin

I'm back with a fun writing center idea for you!

I have been really into sensory bins lately, so I took the word card from my St. Patrick's Day writing pack and added them to a St. Patrick's Day themed sensory bin,

Our sensory bin also has a mix of colored beans.  I also added some green Easter grass and gold glitter paper strips.  I found both of these from Walmart in their Easter section.

You could also add a tweezers or tongs to have your kiddos grab each card using those tools.
I laminated our word tracing paper, so we can use this over and over.  Plus, it cuts down on copying!

EASY Prep Writing Center

I wanted to jump on and share an easy prep writing center for you!
I shared this on my Instagram story the other day, but thought I would share it with you here AND add a FREEBIE :)
Writing center can be tough with kiddos who do not know how to write independently just yet.  One thing that I have been doing for years is putting word cards with pictures in my center.  I add our writing paper we use during Writer's Workshop and let them be in charge of their learning.  They can write just the words on the card, a sentence, or they can use the word to spark an idea for a story!
I put a picture on the word card, so the students who are not reading yet will know what the word says.  This cuts down on students coming up to you and asking what it says.

I have created different themed writing centers for the different parts of the year and these include word cards and writing paper.  They also include sentence builders, making lists, and sentence starters/prompts sheets.  The examples here are from my Halloween pack!

I have created FREE word cards for you that includes a writing sheet.  These cards have a food theme, so they can be used throughout the entire year.

Writing Center

If you're like me you have a writing center or writing time during your school day!  If you don't, you should start!

I want to share with you an EASY prep writing center!  There is only one thing that you would have to cut before, but other than that just click PRINT and you have yourself a fun writing center for your kiddos!

One of the activities in this pack is sentence writing, I mean this is a writing pack!  I have included three different levels for your kiddos. This makes it easy to differentiate.

I have included a journal, also.  You can use the cover and create a journal for each kiddo or just use the journal paper for your center.  There are two types of journal paper.  One with three lines to write and one with more lines.  Both have a blank space for a picture.

I said there is only one thing that would need to be prepped and these cards are the only thing.  Your kiddos can choose a card then trace the word they choose.

Another way to use these cards is to pick a card and write about your the word you picked.  Your kiddos can write one sentence or write a whole story using the journal paper included.

These sentence builders could even work in a word work center!

Finally, I have added some list making pages, too!  Your kiddos can make their lists and use them to write in their journals or use their lists when they are stuck on what to write about.

St. Patrick's Day Writing Center

That sneaky leprechaun is making its way into classrooms across the country, so it is a perfect time to add these St. Patrick's Day writing activities to your writing center.

All of these centers follow the same format as my Winter and Valentine's Day Writing Center Activity packs!

There are making lists pages.

There are also read trace, write, and build it pages.

I have also made 10 word cards and a recording sheet that can be used as a Write the Room activity or put in a center for extra writing practice.

Valentine's Day Centers!

I pulled out some Valentine's Day centers this week!

These adorable love monster sight word cards are from my Love Monster activity pack!  I put them into my word work centers and had my kiddos build each word on a baking pan!

The next couple activities are from my Valentine's Day Writing Center Activities pack!

I laminated the recording sheet so we can reuse it.  I have my kiddos pick a word, find it on the sheet, trace, and write it!

Winter Writing Center

My writing center needed an upgrade, so I created this Winter Writing Center Activities pack!

There are a variety worksheets and word cards to use with a winter theme!
My kiddos really loved the Read, Trace, Write, and Build sheets!

These sheets are perfect because they can be completed independently.  I mixed the sentence up on the bottom, to promote a little reading.  I did have one kiddo put it in the same order they cut it out in...there is always one :)

There are also 10 word cards.  These can be put in your writing center and used in many different ways.  Students can pull out a word and create a sentence using that word, students can write or trace each word, OR throw in some letter beads and they can build the word!

There are 4 writing prompts included in 3 different levels!  There is a fill in the blank sheet, a tracing sheet, and a sheet with one question that would be fully written out on their own.

I have also included a journal cover with writing pages in two different levels.

Brown Bear, Brown Bear

This week we are doing Brown Bear!  I wanted to share some of my Daily 5 centers that we are doing this week (and probably next because I forget to switch them out...)!

All of these centers are working with the color words!  I planned on putting these color word mats in one of the centers and then realized we don't know how to spell those color words just yet.  So I threw in the color word circles which I thought might be tricky but my kiddos rocked it!

Five for Friday on Saturday...again...

It officially feels like fall!  Check out our week!

We were getting tired of tracing our names in our writing center, so I added some ABC tracers and dry erase markers!  All of a sudden tracing is fun again!  These sheets are from my Kindergarten at Last pack!

In math we took our cubes and made patterns.  We made repeating and non repeating patterns.  Once we were done with making them we sorted them!

We LOVE our sight word time!  We use Megan Wheeler's Sight Word Chant cards to spell and say our sight word.  Then, we complete this sheet from my Dolch Sight Word Bundle.  However, whenever I ask my kids what this word is they say m-y, MY...

I got my classroom iPads Thursday!  Yay!  I can't wait to show you one of my favorite new apps!  Blog post coming soon... ;)  (The suspense is killing you, I know)

One of my little ones brought in a pencil box filled with grass and GRASSHOPPERS!  I made sure we kept that box in his locker and that he brought it home at the end of the day...  The last thing I wanted was that box to fall on the floor and grasshoppers to be jumping around everywhere...oh kindergarten :)

Hope everyone had a great week!  The hubby and I are off to wedding number 8 of the summer!
