Monday Made It

Monday, July 28, 2014
I'm linking up with Tara for her Monday Made It linky!

I bought these glass rocks and letter stickers from Dollar General!  I haven't ever been to that store before, but they have a lot of great things there!
I took the stickers and put them on the top of each rock.  You can also put them on the bottom!

I bought some Mod Podge to put over the top of the stickers to help them stick better!

When you first put the Mod Podge on it will have a white tint to it, but when it dries it is clear!
You can put magnets on the back or keep them the way they are.  I plan on using them in my Word Work center and have my kiddos use them to build their words.  I went on a letter buying spree, so I have another pack of stickers that I plan on using to make an uppercase and lowercase match game.  I will put the uppercase sticker on one rock and the lowercase on the other.

I FINALLY finished my Kindergarten at Last pack!  I had been working on it for awhile!  It is packed with beginning of the year printables!

I also have "Made It" to 1,000 followers on TpT! :)

Five for Friday

Friday, July 25, 2014
It has been awhile since I have linked up, but I actually took some pics this week!
Check out my week!
I am teaching summer school and during the morning the kiddos get a free time to play games!  Two little ones took a few decks of cards and created this!  This has been a popular activity, but this is the only card house that got this big!
I blogged about this on Wednesday!  I am trying to get a head start on my anchor charts, so it is one less thing I need to worry about during the beginning of the school year!
I don't know about your, but I have been on a back to school shopping spree!  I was at Target this week (like 4 times) and found these scented hand sanitzers on sale for 34 cents!  I thought the colors were cute and the scents were great!
I hit 1000 followers on TpT and I am having a giveaway!
And yes my favorite store is part of the giveaway!

I am visiting my sister in WI and she is a rockstar on the sewing machine!
She made me a cute curtain to use on my shelves in my classroom!  I blogged about this yesterday, but wanted to show you all again! :)

What were you up to this week!?

Shelf Curtains

Thursday, July 24, 2014
The hubby is traveling for work, so I went to visit my sister in WI.  Lucky for me, she sews!  I have said before that my room is TINY or tiny, so I need to use each space wisely!
I know there are lots of shelves in the classroom, and a few cabinets.  Basically, a lot of my stuff will be out in the open and could look super cluttered.  Not cute!
I wanted to make some curtains for my shelves to cover up the clutter.  I bought some adorable fabric at Wal-Mart, but wanted to add a cute boarder to the top to make it look a little nicer.
The fabric I bought has multi-colored polka dots on it, so the border was a solid color to match the dots.
I cut two strips of red from a bigger piece of fabric.  I folded it and ironed it.
My sister folded it and sewed it to make it looked ruffled!
Then, she took the polka dot fabric and sewed the ruffled strip to the top!

Seriously, how lucky am I!?  It turned out perfect!
Here is an example of what I will use it for!  I plan on using some velcro to attach it to the shelf.  Since the pattern has so many colors, we might go back and make a few solid color ones too!
What a lifesaver!  I was about to pull out the hot glue gun to make this!  I think it could still work, right!?

Don't forget to enter!  You can share it daily! :)

Anchor Charts

Wednesday, July 23, 2014
I don't know about you, but my anchor charts are made in like 3 seconds during class with my kiddos.  They are messy and usually have crossed out words since I am rushing to get them started, so my kiddos can help fill it in if needed.
I got this box of poster board for free from our union office.  They have this "free" room of donated things and one week when I was there for ENVoY training they had a pile of poster board.  SCORE!  I should of taken more boxes, but they are heavy and of course I found other things I "needed" too!
Honestly, it has been sitting in my trunk for months, but today I decided to get a head start on starting some of my anchor charts for this year.
My room is tiny this year, so there will be not a ton of space to hang things.  I decided to cut the poster in half.  You would think I was building something with that tape measure, but no, we don't have a yardstick at home because I take them to school (duh)!
I have been pinning up a storm and found these two ideas on Pinterest!  I made these two charts and started making my Daily 5 expectation charts.  I want to get my Daily 5 charts started, so they are ready for my kiddos to "help" me fill in!
Tell me about your anchor charts!

Have you heard!?  I hit 1,000 followers on TpT and I am throwing a giveaway!

Monday Made It~Glue Sponges

Monday, July 21, 2014
I haven't linked up with Tara for a Monday Made It post in awhile, but I was out shopping this weekend and picked up some supplies to make...GLUE SPONGES!  You may have seen these on Kindergarten Smorgasbord and whatever Greg is doing you know is a good thing, so I have jumped on the glue sponges bandwagon.
The containers, glue, and sponges can be found almost anywhere!  Target is my go to for almost everything!

This process is easy and will save you the headache of clogged glue bottles!
Pour some of the glue onto the bottom of the container.  Spread the glue all over the bottom.
I bought a pack of 6 sponges so I could cut the extras in half to cover more of the container.
Pour the extra glue onto the top of the sponges!

Cover and let it sit for a about a week to let it soak into the sponges.
Your kiddos will then dab the paper they are gluing onto the sponge to get their glue instead of using a billion glue sticks or clogged glue bottles!

Have you used glue sponges before!?

My Doctor and Me ABC~Giveaway

Sunday, July 20, 2014
I got the privilege to review this amazing book called My Doctor and Me ABC, written by Stephanie Cox.  Stephanie is a family doctor herself and knows first hand the importance of being healthy.  She also knows that sometimes the doctor is a scary place for kiddos.

My Doctor and Me ABC has perfectly written rhymes for each letter.  Each letter is all about the going to the doctor and being healthy.  What I love is they use a variety of terms Stephanie uses.  Your kiddos will know words like cough and exercise, but she adds some great terms like uvula (you know, that hangy thing in the back of your throat).  I didn't even know the name for that :)

Plus, words like joints, immunization, and abdomen.  Each page can be discussed further if needed which makes this book that much better!
The illustrations are adorable!  They are bright and really kid friendly.

The main reason this book is so great is because it promotes healthy living.  We all know how important it is to live healthy and this book shows you what it takes to be that way.

I love how it shows the different things a doctor does too.  This puts those nervous kiddos at ease after reading this book.

I hope you will check out this book and read it to your kiddos.  I know they will enjoy it!  I am giving away the ebook version of this book to one lucky follower!

Don't have a Kindle??  I do not have a Kindle either, but I easily downloaded the Kindle app on my iPad and created a Kindle account through amazon.  :)  I also could read from my computer!  Perfect to project on your SMART board!!

Back to School Addition Story Problems

Friday, July 18, 2014
If you LOVED my Spring Story Problems, you will love my Back to School Addition Story Problems pack!  They follow the same format as my spring packs, but this pack has a school theme to them.  These are great at anytime of the year too!
Scroll to the bottom for a chance to WIN a copy for yourself!
Students read through the problems, cut out the equations, solve, and match them to their story problem!
In this pack, there are 6 story problems plus a matching sheet
When I made the story problems I made sure to create to different levels.  One worksheet there are objects that are given to you to cut out and in the other one those are not there.
This worksheet is great for a kiddo who is more independent and can show how they got the answer by drawing.
This worksheet gives pictures to help.  The rulers are attached and I added the two girls in the story problem, so they can visualize the problem.
Want to win it!?
1. Pin a picture from this post
2. Comment with the pin AND your email
3. I will pick a winner Sunday (I have a wedding out of town Saturday-YAY Meg!)
Congrats to everyone who entered! :)
