New Year's Linky

Monday, December 31, 2012
I can't believe it is already New Years Eve!!  This break has been flying by!  Along with Christmas festivities one of my BFF's got married Saturday, so it has been busy!  Plus, the hubby and I are going to D.C. to visit his brother and fiance on Wednesday!
I am linking up with Jen at The Teacher's Cauldron for a New Year's Resolution Linky Party!

Personal Goal-  One thing I do want to do more of is  READ!  I got a nook for Christmas and I never make time to read during the school year!  During the summer, I am a reading machine because I have extra time so I will make more time to read!

Blogging Goal- I just started blogging so I want to keep up with it going into the New Year which I think I will be able to do because I am obsessed with it!  I do want to actually spend more time reading and commenting on blogs!  Everyone has great ideas and I don't want to miss out on any of these!
Happy New Year! :)

One more thing...tomorrow check out Dana at Fun in 1st Grade's blog for her New Teacher Blog Tuesday-I'll be featured! :)  So excited!  Thanks Dana! :)

ONE MORE DAY!!  That is all that is separating me and a fabulous two week break filled with family time, one of my BFF's wedding, and a trip to D.C.!!  Today was a painting kind of day!  I am so bad and hadn't started parent gifts until today, but OMG did they turn out so cute!!  We made wreaths using paper plates and tissue paper.  I know you have seen them before!  I glued each kiddos picture to the middle and we will add a ribbon and ta-da an ornament!  I don't have pics due to all the kiddos pictures on them, but we did make another cute project!  I can't take any credit because I found it on Pinterest, but it was just on a whim that I found it again ( I totally forgot I pinned it).  You can find it here!

I typed up the adorable poem and painted everyone's hand!  Lots of giggles because it tickled everyone's hands!

They did such a good job decorating and cannot wait to take them home tomorrow!
After  a day of painting I had my kiddos do a graphing activity using these:

Of course their favorite part was eating them!  They did such a good job! :)  I hope everyone has a fabulous last day of school before break!  If you are all done, then enjoy! :)

Don't forget to link up!

Candy Cane Day

Wednesday, December 19, 2012
The last Wednesday we are in school every month we have an early release day!   I try to make it a themed day and today we had a Candy Cane Day!  We started our day with making a candy cane.

We started out by filling in sight words to a poem I created.!

Then we traced and painted the stripes on our candy canes!

Our finished product!

My kiddos were obsessed with them after they were all done.  They were pretending to eat them and could not stop laughing about it!  So of course we took a class picture of  everyone pretending to eat them! :)
Before we went home, we did Mrs. Leeby's Candy Cane Investigation pack!  Thanks Irene!  The kiddos LOVED this!  We graphed if we liked candy canes or not and then used our 5 senses to investigate our candy cane!

Everyone like candy canes!

Today was a fun day doing all sorts of candy cane activities!  Bonus- it is the hubby's birthday...which means ice cream cake!! Yum!!! :)

Snowman Write the Room

Tuesday, December 18, 2012
Two days done and three more to go!  Tomorrow is an early release day too!  My kiddos love Write the Room activities.  Today, I used an activity from my Let It Snow pack!  The word SNOWMAN was written down the sheet and my little ones walked around the room to find words that started with each letter! Check it out!

Another activity we did was practicing reading number words.  I started by writing all the number words one through twelve on the board and together we read the words and wrote the number.  Then, my kiddos read each number word and drew snowmen to match!  This is also in my Let It Snow Pack!  I copied it back to back so we could do one through twelve all at once! :)

Don't forget to link up! :)
